We take pride in offering a therapeutically informed school environment that fosters growth, learning and emotional well-being for every student. But what does it mean to be therapeutically informed?
A therapeutically informed school goes beyond addressing academic needs. It’s about understanding the emotional, social and developmental challenges that students may face, and providing a supportive environment that helps them thrive. With intervention partners on our campus for applied behavior analysis through Touchstone ABA and for occupational, physical and speech therapy through ESP, we are able to access these professionals and their expert advice for many situations that arise during our school days.
Specialized Training & Credentials
A therapeutically informed learning environment begins with a team that is not only skilled in teaching but also deeply committed to understanding and supporting each student’s emotional and developmental needs. Our approach to education goes beyond traditional teaching methods.
As a therapeutically informed school, our educators receive specialized training and our leadership team retains unique credentials that equip them to create the most supportive, effective environment possible. On our administrative team we have a motor therapist, a language specialist, two staff members who have a master’s in social work, and a behavior specialist.
Creating a Safe and Supportive Space
Being a therapeutically informed school means recognizing the importance of student well-being in the learning process. For instance, St. Lillian Academy staff members are trained to understand the emotional and behavioral needs of students, particularly those with communication and learning challenges.
By integrating therapeutic practices into our day-to-day routines, we are able to offer students the support they need to focus on their education. We take a holistic approach to learning, where every student is treated as an individual, recognizing their strengths, challenges and potential.
Small Group Instruction
Since every child learns differently, especially those with communication and learning challenges, we prioritize small group instruction as a fundamental aspect of our teaching approach. With our intentionally small class sizes, we are able to create a learning environment where each student receives the individualized attention they need to succeed.
Our approach focuses on leveled instruction to meet the unique learning needs of every child, allowing them to progress at their own pace while still being challenged to reach their fullest potential.
Fostering Emotional and Academic Growth
Therapeutically informed practices involve addressing both the academic and emotional development of our students. By integrating social and emotional learning (SEL) into the curriculum, we not only promote academic success but also teach vital life skills like resilience, self-regulation and interpersonal communication. This approach leads to better outcomes in both the classroom and in students’ overall well-being.
By creating a therapeutically informed learning environment, we ensure that every student at St. Lillian Academy is given the best possible foundation for success, not just in the classroom but in life. This unique approach sets us apart as a place where children with communication and learning challenges can reach their fullest potential.
