A Warm Welcome Back from St. Lillian Academy’s Head of School

Dear St. Lillian Academy Families,

Welcome back. Whether your family is returning to St. Lillian Academy or joining our community for the first time, we are so glad to have you here.

Every August, I find myself thinking about the moments that make this school what it is. Not always the ones that land on a calendar, but the quieter ones: a student who raises a hand for the first time, a reader who finally finds the book that clicks or a child who arrives in the fall unsure and walks out in the spring standing a little taller. Those moments are why St. Lillian Academy exists, and they are what our teachers and staff have spent the summer preparing to make possible again.

I am grateful beyond words for those teachers and staff. The care they bring to this work is not ordinary. It shows up in the way they notice what each student needs, adjust when something is not working and celebrate progress the rest of the world might overlook.

I am just as grateful for our families. The trust involved in partnering with a school like ours is significant, and we never take it lightly.

St. Lillian Academy was built on a simple conviction: students with learning and communication challenges deserve an environment designed around how they actually learn and grow. Through individualized instruction, specialized programming and a community that leads with compassion, our aim is for every student to leave here with more confidence, more independence and a deeper love of learning than when they arrived.

And to our students, I want to say this directly. You are surrounded by people who believe in you. Every day of this year is a chance to learn something new, try something hard and take one more step forward. We cannot wait to watch you do it.

There is a great deal ahead of us this year, and I am genuinely excited for all of it. Thank you for being part of the St. Lillian Academy community and for helping us make it a place where every student belongs.

With gratitude,

Elissa McKenzie
